Art of Winter 2012 Wraps Up

The Art of Winter exhibition featured for galleries – the Gondola Installation by local artist & designer, Sam Mobley, who constructed three close-to-life-size gondolas from recycled cardboard and suspended them in the atrium of the Colorado Convention Center during the SIA Snow Show; the Brand Gallery showcased ten skis & snowboards from boutique Colorado manufacturers, who displayed their recent designs at Row 14 Bistro & Wine Bar; the Artist Gallery on Larimer Square featured works from twenty Colorado artists on recycled skis & snowboards; And, the Filmmaker’s Project, featuring inspiring footage from four acclaimed Colorado filmmakers shown on downtown Denver’s largest outdoor LED screens.All artists and brands were featured in an online auction, with the proceeds supporting the Something Independent Snow Sport Entrepreneur Award, which helps grow a Colorado business within the industry.If you missed out, you can catch a wide selection of Art of Winter elements, including the cardboard gondolas, at Battery 621 on Friday, March 2, in conjunction with Santa Fe Arts District First Friday Art Walk. Mark your calendars and come on out for a last chance to view and bid on some of this year’s artwork, as well as some brand new skis and boards.
